Gourmet Food Trucks Rally in Support of the FAMSAC Food Cupboard

July 22, 2019 (Ottawa, ON) — On Saturday, August 10, thirteen food trucks will bring international flavours to Bells Corners in support of the FAMSAC Food Cupboard, west Nepean’s emergency food assistance program. Hosted by Christ Church Bells Corners and sponsored by Myers Automotive Group, the fifth annual West End Food Truck Rally will take place in the church’s parking lot (3861 Old Richmond Road) from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The FAMSAC Food Cupboard, now in its 50th year of operation, supports more than 85 families monthly. “While this anniversary is one that we mark with reluctance,” explains FAMSAC President Jeremy LeBlanc, “it does give us an opportunity to celebrate the generosity of our volunteers, local businesses, and the wider community, without whom we would not have been able to meet the needs of residents in the west end since 1969. We are grateful for their ongoing support, especially as we see demand increasing rather than decreasing in 2019.”

In an inspiring example of neighbours helping neighbours, Ad Mare, Big D’s Doghouse & Poutine Emporium, Dash Mobile Cookery, Donut Rain on My Parade, Foodie Lu, The Merry Dairy, Mr. Churritos, PuraVida Espresso & Smoothie Bar, Raon Kitchen, Rico Peru, ROOST, Stella Luna, and Sula Wok will donate a portion of their proceeds from the day to the Food Cupboard. In addition, 100% of proceeds from drink sales will go to FAMSAC, thanks to drink sponsor Giant Tiger. A bouncy castle and face painting (sponsored by Playground Planners), Little Ray’s Reptiles show (sponsored by Frontline Financial Credit Union), visits from Ottawa Fury’s Sparky, the Redblacks’ Big Joe, and a puppet show make this a perfect event for people of all ages. LeBlanc adds, “Whether you are craving savoury or sweet delights, the West End Food Truck Rally is the place to be on August 10. With everyone’s support, we can ensure that FAMSAC continues to provide local families with a variety of healthy food choices in the months ahead.” Admission to the rally is a food or cash donation for FAMSAC. All are welcome!

The FAMSAC Food Cupboard, a registered charitable organization, has been helping families in Bells Corners, Bayshore, Craig Henry, Crystal Beach, Manordale, Trend-Arlington, and Woodvale since 1969. Christ Church Bells Corners, an active, intergenerational Anglican parish and a dynamic presence in the Bells Corners community, has been nurturing faith, serving the world, and welcoming all since 1853. It advocates social justice, engages in service projects, offers affordable community rental space, and provides financial assistance to organizations and initiatives at the local, national, and international levels.
