The Manordale-Woodvale Community Association (MWCA) was instituted in the early 1960’s. At that time, the association acted on behalf of the residents of the Manordale and Woodvale neighbourhoods. As a result of further housing growth over the past 60 years and the fact that the adjacent neighbourhood of Craig Henry had no association to represent it, the MWCA amended its boundaries to include this area.
The boundaries of this community are as follows: Greenbank Road on the west; Woodroffe Avenue on the east; Hunt Club Road on the south and the railway tracks on the north.
The association is for non-profit and is led by an executive of approximately 9 to 10 volunteers living within the community. We are an event-driven association focusing on 3 major recreational events throughout the year. As well, we manage the rental of the facility on behalf of the City of Ottawa. We build and maintain two ice surfaces.
The Association also addresses and assists its residents regarding any municipal services issues. A close relationship has been achieved with the City councilor representing this area and other City employees involved in the management and maintenance of the community building and the park adjacent to it. Representatives from the two local schools are invited to attend and participate in all association meetings and events.
